Lost in Ireland Chapter 23 - Touring
The E2 didn’t sleep well that night: a war-related nightmare woke him up in the middle and he stayed awake for the rest of the night. Having seen how horrible war could be with his own eyes it was all he could think about now. "I’m tellin' ya," he said to Aida with a yawn the next morning, "the sooner I’m off this war-torn land and back on Sodor, the better." "I get where you’re comin' from, Thomas," said Aida, "but one thing I’ve learned over the years is that no place is 100% peaceful: no matter what we see, there’s allus darker stuff gooin' on beyond our vision. Crime comes to mind." Thomas didn’t know how to reply to this, so he didn’t. But it did make him wonder. The engines of Sodor's railways did have arguments, some of these led to fallouts, and there were accidents too at times, but other than that it was rather peaceful, with arguments being settled in no more than a month. They also got along with some of the non-rail vehicles. What did go on in the areas of Sodor where

Captain Jimson wasn’t having an easier time: with his house destroyed he needed to find a new place to stay. To make matters worse Jenna kept on hiding behind him. In the end, not wanting to rely on the UDA for a place to stay, he picked the cheapest motel he could afford, but the arrangements were hardly satisfying.
"Ok, how am I supposed to sleep when there is only one bed?!" Kaylee growled. "There’s no way I’m sharing a bed with you boys!"
"Honestly, the UDA could’ve provided better housing for us Urvin," Allen agreed. Jenna said nothing, she just hid in a corner.
"The UDA can’t solve all our problems," Cap

Thomas' conversion to Irish Gauge was quick: he was back in action that afternoon and fired up by RPSI volunteers.
"Ah, Thomas lang time nae see!" said a Scottish accent. The E2 looked down and saw an old man. He looked rather familiar.
"Jack Smith?! Is that you?!" the E2 asked in amazement.
"Indeed it is Thomas!" chuckled his driver from the seventies. "Efter retirin' frae th' North Western Railway Ah moved tae Belfast. Ah jist sae happen tae be a regular volunteer here as a locomotife inspectur. An' Ah'm tellin' ye it will be stoatin tae be wi ye again efter sae mony years!"
Thomas thought the same and was happy to see one of his old d

While that was going on Padder and his men took Ricky to a dock. They tied him to a pier and stepped out.
"Now listen up men: it’s bad enough British soldiers have come to Ireland, now there’s a British tank engine, and it’s a popular icon for children!" Padder crunched his fists in anger as he spoke. "Everybody stand back!" he ordered. The men did so and Padder punched a nearby post.
"Looks loike somebody 'as ter work on their anger issues," Ricky snarked.
"That tank engine ruined my life, it was thanks to me being distracted watching him with my six year old son my wife and daughter got bombed to death!" Padder growled.

As he was regauged and examined, along with other necessary repairs being made, Thomas spoke to other engines inside the workshops. They were a large black tank engine with a 2-6-4 wheel arrangement, another small green diesel shunter, a green tender engine resembling Donald and Douglas, and three main line diesels, two blue and one black.
"I’m sorry to hear about what he did to Jenna. Mind you, Thomas, The Troubles don't just affect people," said the tank engine, who was numbered 4. "We engines get affected too."
"Oi meself used ter work in de Republic av Oirlan'," said the black diesel. "Wan av me fella engines, a member av de auld

Lost in Ireland Chapter 18 - Whitehead
It took an hour and seven minutes to arrive at Whitehead. When it did, Thomas, who had fallen asleep on the way, opened his eyes and looked around the railway yard he was brought to. Sure enough there was a coal tower, a water tower, some coaches, some sheds, some trucks, and a few steam engines.
Chief Durbinon and Captain Jimson explained the situation to the manager of the RPSI and he agreed to look after Thomas, ignoring Captain Jimson's insistence he was only a replica. A small green diesel shunter rolled over.
"So you’re the engine I’m supposed to take into the works," she said.
"Yes," Thomas answered.
"Well, I don’

Lulu was examined and it was found the shot had killed her. Captain Jimson held her body and cried while one of the other soldiers comforted him. Allen was alright but Jenna was impossible to approach: she kept darting around Thomas whenever somebody did, eventually going into his cab. Kaylee, on the other hand, was still unconscious and being tended to by Chief Durbinon and a doctor.
"'oo on Earth were those guys?" Thomas asked Chief Durbinon.
"Well Thomas," Chief Durbinon said, "those were the True Irish Army, a division of the Provisional Irish Republican Army, IRA for short. The Troubles, as this war is called, have been going on since

As dawn broke the dark night sky, Thomas opened his eyes. Looking around he saw he was still in the backyard and that the concrete blocks were still underneath him. He also saw Ricky tied up to his berth still sleeping.
"Seems it wasn’t a dream," he said. "Oh well: at least I’m not stranded anymore," he smiled. Although the E2 wasn’t on rails at the time he had to admit being on any form of solid ground was better than being stuck on a barge out at sea.
The E2 couldn’t smile for long though: a flock of seagulls decided to use him as a perch.
The seagulls squawked over and over again and Thomas got fed up.
"Oh will

Thomas and Ricky spotted Kaylee as she walked over to the E2.
"You ok Kaylee?" Thomas asked. "You seem rather disturbed."
"It’s Allen," Kaylee confessed, sitting on his bufferbeam. ”He’s been so distant for as long as I’ve known him and recently he’s also started acting like an adult even though he’s only ten."
"If yer ask me, young lady, yisser younger brah'der is growin' up too fast," Ricky said. "Oi've not known 'imself as long as yer 'av Oi'll admit but perhaps 'is auld pair dyin' finally opened 'imself up ter de reality dat nobody lives forever."

Based on one of the final scenes of the infamous Shed 17, Thomas the Tank Engine is on his way to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for their Autumn Steam Gala when it starts to rain as the E2 approaches Skipton. With no choice but to take shelter once his cab starts leaking, the E2 and his crew find an unusual building, where Skipton Engine Shed once stood, and go inside.
As they wait for the rain to pass, the trio hear an unusual noise: it sounds like a bunch of clicks. Wanting to find out what is making it, Thomas and his crew venture further into the shed and see something that horrifies t
One day Percy the Small Engine was sitting at Mavis’s Crossing with a morning parcel train. The brakes had jammed and his crew and Guard were working hard to fix it. Percy was impatient. “This is taking a long time,” he said, “c’mon Driver, hurry it along! Otherwise Harold’ll take my favorite job away from me again!” “Almost done,” said the Guard. Just then, screeching tires were heard alongside someone yelling, “One side ol’ chap! Coming through! The future’s now thanks to–” A loud crash erupted from behind Percy’s bunker, and the second mail car jolted sideways. Luckily nobody was hurt, but Percy was most annoyed. “Whoops,” said the deranged road vehicle, “sorry Percy!” “GOD DAMMIT WEMBLEY!!!!” exclaimed Percy. Wembley is an electric self-driving mail van made by the Telsa electric car company in California. He’d been brought to Sodor in 2021 on a 3 year trial to test the sustainability and viability of electric cars on Sodor and to see if
While writing Lost in Ireland I saw the story was starting to drag on. That’s why I ask: does anybody know of an experienced beta-reader for Thomas out there?
Edit: I guess I could split it into parts. Might actually make it flow easier.
